My Supplies Are Handy:

  • All my office supplies are organized and stored in one location

Organizing My Papers:

office spaceHere are ten empowering ways to organize your home office and create a welcoming and productive work environment.

1. Take everything out of your office and begin from scratch. Look at your workspace and figure out how to best utilize the wall space, the natural light from the windows and other factors that affect the overall “workability” of your office. The goal is to create an environment that is workable, comfortable and one in which you can be productive and successful.

2. Clean everything from top to bottom. Get out the mop, broom, dust cloth and the vacuum cleaner and start your cleaning. Trust me, a clean office is a productive office. You may even want to paint and do some redecorating.

3. Arrange your office furniture so you are in control of your workspace. Your work area should be functional and comfortable.

4. Have important electronics within reach. You don’t want to waste your valuable moneymaking time getting up every few minutes to get copies from the printer or fax. If possible, have them within arm’s length so you can retrieve them easily.

5. Keep your office supplies stocked and in one location. There’s nothing worse than being in the middle of an important project and realizing you are out of copy paper. Planning ahead will save you time, energy and money not to mention stress and frustration.

6. Make sure you can sit and work comfortably. It is important to have a good desk chair for proper back support. It’s hard to be productive when your back is bothering you.

7. Make sure you have proper lighting. It is important to make sure you aren’t working in the shadows or squinting into light that is too bright. Tired and/or strained eyes can be an eye health concern.

8. File papers away as soon as you are finished with them. Don’t become a “pile it.” Don’t create piles of papers, magazines, mail and other things – file them or throw them away.

9. Have your day-to-day supplies within arm’s reach. Have pens, scratch paper, important files, reference books and other useful materials near you so when they are needed, you can reach them easily.

10. Strive to create a home office workspace that is an inviting environment. Strive to create and maintain an organized environment in which you can be productive, comfortable and successful.

After reading these ten suggestions, wouldn’t you agree it is worth your time to become and stay organized?

You’ve heard me say this before, social media is here to stay. I’ve found in my own business it is a powerful marketing tool if you use it consistently and correctly.

I came across some interesting social media statistics and information recently and thought I’d share them with you.

1. Rule of Thumb: When post on social media it’s best to stay as close to the ‘80/20’ rule as possible.
80 percent of what you share on social should be non-promotional content. The other 20 percent should directly lead followers back to your website or blog.

2. Are you on Twitter?
Research shows that your Twitter followers are a valuable and engaged audience.
70% of them amplify your content for free by Retweeting it, and 43% plan to make multiple purchases from the small and medium sized-businesses they follow.

3. Make your posts fun and informative. It’s not just about making sales, it’s about building relationships.

4. Photo quotes are very popular among Facebook users. Share tips, messages or famous quotes, with a photo background to make your posts more attractive.

5. Build Your Community Rather than Just Your Audience

Communities are interactive and engaged. It’s two-way communication rather than just pushing out messages to people.

6. Show your friends and customers you’re a real person by posting updates about things you’re passionate about – motivational quotes, favorite products, tips and how-to’s, something you find funny, etc.

7. On social media, a company can publicly recognize employees for individual and/or team accomplishments.
Are you using social media to boost morale and foster healthy self-esteem among your team members?

8. The percentage of Fortune Global 100 companies with Twitter accounts has been reported to be higher than the number of companies with Facebook pages, YouTube channels, or corporate blogs.

9. According to recent research, the most used social media tools are:
Blogs – 79%
LinkedIn – 78%
Facebook – 77%
YouTube/Video Sites – 41%
Social bookmarking sites – 38%

10. The key to success on Twitter is to have a consistent stream of Tweets going out daily. I use Social Oomph to schedule and manage my Tweets – I find it is easy to use.

11. Mobile devices now make up more than half of all opened emails.

According to Constant Contact, almost 51 percent of all emails are now opened on either a smartphone or tablet, according to the study, with 38.8 percent being opened on a smartphone and 11.9 percent being opened on a tablet.

12. 75% of recipients will delete an email if it is unreadable on their mobile device.

What do you think – will these tips help you grow your social media marketing?

If you own a home-based business, you know that it takes hours and hours of work to build a successful business. As a work from home business owner, the chance of becoming a workaholic is much greater than you might imagine. This is because you do not have any “fixed” office hours and your office is always available when you feel like working.

As with everything, the key is finding a balance between home and work. It’s all about setting boundaries and setting priorities and then sticking to them.

Here are a few disadvantages to being a work from home workaholic:

•Overdoing anything isn’t good because it can leave you exhausted in mind, body and spirit. The key to working effectively is balance and moderation – too much of a good thing is never that good.

•By our very nature humans are social and we need to interact with others. Working from home can get lonely. Not making time to socialize with friends or family members can lead to stress and burnout.

•Working too much can place a strain on the family. If you skip meals or miss family functions too many times, it can eventually damage your personal relationships.

Please remember that the human brain is like a powerful machine that needs to be refreshed to recharged and care for in order to keep working well. It is vital as a work from home entrepreneur that you learn how to strike a healthy balance between becoming a workaholic and being the person with a healthy sense of work and life balance.

Make it part of your daily to-do list to rest, relax and enjoy your life.

Here are my top ten winning sales tips for women in business. This practical list will help you focus on making the sales experience a win-win for everyone involved. If you have a fear of selling, these tips will also offer suggestions for becoming more comfortable offering your product or service.

1. Be knowledgeable about what you are offering. Learn as much as you can about the service or product that you are offering. With knowledge comes self-assuredness and self-confidence. Ideally, you should be able to summarize your product and its benefits in about thirty seconds.

2. Give value. Every time you pick up the phone, meet with a prospect or attend a networking function, you should be providing something of value. For example, value can be in the form of how to or an update about your product or industry or an actual sample.

3. Be prepared for your sales meetings and presentations. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than meeting with someone and they can’t find their notes, business cards or the information they came to share.

4. Professionalism can make or break a deal. Act, sound and look the part of a professional. If a prospective buyer is going to spend their money with you, they want to know you, like you and trust you as a professional who has their best interest at heart.

5. Deliver more than you promise. Talk is cheap. It’s in the delivery of the service or product that will build trust and loyalty with your client/customer. Great customer service builds great customer loyalty.

6. Keep in contact with past customers. Once a customer has purchased from you, they are golden. Treat them with respect and dignity and keep them in the loop. The next time they are ready to buy, you want them to call you. Develop a customer newsletter or email update so they know what’s new within your industry.

7. Be on the look out for vendor opportunities. If you can show your products at a trade fair, show or networking event attended by your target market, it could turn out to be a valuable marketing opportunity for you. Remember, it has to be worth your time, energy and money – as a businesswoman, there needs to be a potential moneymaking return on investment.

8. Believe in yourself and your product. Belief leads to enthusiasm and enthusiasm can add up to more sales and happy satisfied customers.

9. Ask questions. Ask questions so you can learn what your customer truly wants. Then, sit quietly and listen to the answers. It’s not about what you want, it’s about what your customer wants and needs.

10. Meet new people. Rule of thumb: Make at least twenty new contacts a day. Social media, networking, phone calls and referrals should all be part of your daily marketing campaign.

Sales are not as difficult or frightening as you may think. It does though take a consistent plan of action. Incorporate these ten tips and you’ll have a workable system for sales success.
